    Strength Or Technique ?

Which one would you guy's or ladies prefer to have more of ? I know most of you guy's are going to say technique , but I don't mean the kind of strength that you get at the gym weight training . I meen raw strength . The kind that can't be acquired by lifting weight's . I meen you can alway's fall back on your power in a fight , but alot of the time , a more powerfull opponent , will break a lock or hold you might have them in , especially if you only have average power or less . IMO , a smaller amount of technique and a large amount of power will win out , over a greater amount of technique and alot less power , so I would go with the greater amount of strength . Thank's , A. montissanti

    hello,

gotta go with technique. serious bonecrushing power can always be developed once technique is known. without technique, most of your power is wasted and can become a serious liability.

example would be jeanjacquesmachado vs. ricardoarona in grappling.

arona won... barely. he is sixty pounds heavier and obviously far more powerful. oh yeah, and machado only really has one hand to grip with. if arona had not developed some decent technique, all his power would have been really useless.

course there is jeffmonson.... powerful. but most of his matches are still won because he is good at beating others positions, not because he shot-puts them across the room.

    interesting question though.

    thanks.

this really depends, boxing you need more power and defense, but if your gonna do Kempo karate, you dont need that much power at all, infact usually you can do the take downs, joint locks, trips with almost no power as long as you have the move down. Now if your doing like sumo wrestling lol that takes alot of power

I think in the technique you must focus on keeping low your center of gravity, this helps you to avoid getting swept or taken down on the mat when you do sparring in MMA and when you do stand up fighting I consider the technique to jam the opponents attacks instead of stepping back; on the power I can mention when you perform a roundhouse kick you might able to drop your hands a bit but your kick gotta be really powerful and quick to avoid get caught with punches.
