Thread: Jujitsu???

Hiya there,

I going to start some formal training in Jujitsu however there are 3 different styles on offer near me. They are: Gracie Jujitsu, Brazilian Jujitsu, Way of the Willow Jujitsu but i havent got a clue which i should take so what are you thoughts people

well gracie jitsu is pretty good but i would go with the BJJ even though im not a big fan of JJ i still learn it just incase things dont go my way in the standup

greetings again suhieb!! it is a toss up between those termed gracie and brazilian.

who are the insructors? the reason for the question is some intructors are much better than others (it is difficult to instruct). mind you, any black belt in jiujitsu is going to be really really devestating competitor, but instructing is a different animal.

also, those termed "gracie" jiujitsu are of one school of thought (typically), and those termed "brazilian" jiujitsu are of another.

meet with both, and train with them (most instructors on earth will offer free intro lesson, sometimes 2 lessons).

this way you will know if you can get along with them (not as simple as it sounds). you will just feel right about it...

if you like both, pick the highest level guy (black over brown, so on so forth). if they are roughly equal level, and you like both, you might wish to go with "brazilian". will pm you with reasons for this.
