    dominant fighters

I really respect everybodys opinons about who they like as fighters i really do. But does anybody realize that matt hughes fights only 2 times a year and when he does he goes for a choke or arm bar and thats it. I understand keeping the belt anyway you can, but he never actually fights anybody. His fight was the only fight in the pay per view where they was not one punch thrown. At least Pierre and Franklin beat the **** out of there opponents. And its not fair that all the guys in the welter weight division have to wait six months at a time for matt to defend. We will have to see what happens with bj penn back.

I believe if you want to watch boxing, then watch boxing. If you want to see fighting watch matt hughes. He slams the f**k out of his opponents, he grounds and pounds, he wrestles, submits, and demolishes his opponents. I don't believe in throwing a lucky punch to win a fight. Hell anyone can throw a devastating punch to the face with four-ounce gloves. Matt picks his opponents apart. His rematch against Frank Trigg was the best fight I've ever seen. He got hit in the nuts and took a pounding from hell, and needless to say he recuperated and got him in a rear naked choke, just like the first fight. How many people cause a tapout by slamming their opponent into the ring. Matt has done it 3 times. He's also probably the strongest welterweight in the UFC. I enjoy watching people get knocked the f##k out, and I enjoy seeing blood all over the ring, and I enjoy watching Loiseau drop elbows on peoples faces, but I also enjoy watching Matt Hughes methodically work an opponent into a submission. (This includes armbars and chokes.) Many people disagree with me, I know. But thats my opinion. Let's hear yours.

I agree with you war zone, matt takes people apart anyway he knows how, if you want to stand up and brawl he'll take you down, if you want to take him down he will stand up and knock you out. he is very smart.

    Hughes

although i like Matt Hughes,I agree .Matt really did not even win the belt from Carlos Newton,he just woke up before carlos did.He also was doomed against verissimo, but verissimo did not snap his arm in half when hughes was trapped in his triangle! On the other hand his skills have greatly evoled from just a wrestler ,who shoots and throughs elbows. He is a good but boring fighter who does not know how to strike! If he could ad that element to his game ,it would make him a much more exiting fighter!!

Matt Hughes is a very versatile fighter. I don' t know how you don't see it. He slams the shit out of people, no matter how good their takedown defense is. He is the man. If you have a style perfected, go with it!

    hello,

well, this is an interesting situation. as far as "no punches thrown"....

that is the fighters prerogative. not ours.

matthughes does often seem to fight "not to lose" as opposed to "winning". nothing inherently wrong with that. he is usually a very intelligent fighter. patmiletich is a smart coach.

remember, matthughes is paid to win. generally, fighters stick with what they know works for them. his style may not appeal to a lot of folks, but don't bash the ones that do like him or his style.

that is thier prerogative. not yours.

also, try to keep in mind that in some fight organizations, they only have a few shows per year and many many fighters. they have to make room for everybody. yes, we would like to see the champs defend titles weekly, but they would be the only ones fighting.

    thanks.

Hughes is just scared of going head to head against any one could win a bout by summission it takes a real figther to win by K.O.

    hello,

interesting. many believe exactly the opposite. real fighters win by submission.

a real fighters wins by doing what works for them. they tend to lose when attempting to play anothers game. fighters that fail to evolve or stay current also tend to lose.

the best fighters realize that for each situation there is a solution, and they exploit that solution.

    thanks
