    Accuracy

I'm no veteran when it comes to fighting. I have alot of power in my legs but I rarely use them. I prefer to use my hands but I'm not too accurate, I have the power but accuracy is my biggest problem. Another problem of mine is I don't move around enough. Any tips on what I can do to improve staying on my toes moving around and accuracy with my swings. I dont have a trainer but my buddys and I pratice out our house, fighting is something a few of us like to do and I'd like to get better at it. One other thing is the guy I maily spar/box with has only one method of winning against me, he extends his left arm out and right when it gets close to my face he swings hard with a right. I fall for it every time. Anyways how to counter it? I've been thinkin of a few ways in my head but havn't tried any yet. I wanna beat him next time we spar.

I am not a boxing trainer but I have coached wrestling and other sports a long time. When I was learning how to box my trainer had me hit the bag alot. The more you train yourself to strike a position then you can move on to things that move. Try bouncing a tennis ball with each of your hands(one at a time) and catch it as you throw a punch. When you can do this try it while moving side to side and then forward and back. I hope I can help a little.

Do you mean he puts his left in your face, and then throws a right? Well try throwing a hook to his elbow on his extended left hand. Should put him in some pain

    Hey

if you no its coming why dont you move back or prepare to block, look at where the rest of his body is postitioned next time he trys it then in future you willl be able to notice these signs then avoid it, failing that try moving to his left side before he hits out with his right, this should make it easier to avoid it and possibly put you in a better postion to strike him.

    Hope that helpss

    hello,

hmmmm. sounds like this is not necessarily an accuracy problem. sounds like a fundamantals problem.

it is clear that you do not know how to move. this is likely because you do not know WHY to move. that is, you lack the understanding of each movement and its purpose, mechanical requirements, strengths, weakness, etc.

in other words, you do not know WHY a given movement or technique works. therefore, you cannot be expected to implement these movements or techniques properly.

sounds grim. but there is hope. power comes from executing a technique properly. accuracy come with understanding the purpose of the technique.

first off, the most obvious advice, is to seek qualified instruction. join a gym. even if it "only" a boxing gym, the theories are also used in muaythai, so it will not be wasted time for you.

second, instructional videos emphasizing basic fundamentals may help. still, you might need to seek qualified coaching to assimilate it in the beginning.

third, as far as handling your friend with the fakie-strikie.... keep your hands UP. you should be able to peer just over your gloves/hands at your opponent. drop your hands... you get dropped.

    thanks.

If you really feel you are lacking in accuracy, Try buying a double end bag. My accuracy went way up after using this tool. You can get one at many sporting goods stores or order from ringside.com.

They are not very expensive and great for working hand accuracy and coordination.
