    muay thai vs mma?

    hello,

can anyone here explain the differences (fundamentaly) between the striking needs of the muaythai fighter and the mma fighter?

    thanks.

easy the thai fighter uses more kick knees and elbows when a mma fighter uses a lot more punchs and takedowns to fight on the ground. muay thai is just one art its a great art to have but its only one when a mma fighter has 2 or 3 styles under his belt

I think Muay Thai is an excellent striking art, but to compete in MMA you would need some ground skills. Once it went to the ground you would get tapped. You could just train the sprawl and hope to never get taken down, but at least some wrestling or jujitsu would help.
