Any Tips on Toughening Hands, and skin?

    Hi,
can anyone tell me of any other ways to toughen hands, and skin? I read in a book, that old boxers would soak their hands in salt brine. But i was wondering if there were any other ways. Any imput would be appreciated. I recently began training for boxing, and getting my Amatuer liscence, and have some wrestling experience. So anything those of you with more experience could suggest would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    re: toughing hands

try knuckel push ups hit the heavy bag with no gloves do work with your hands but the knuckle push ups are very important .more importantly when you toughen hard they tend to get bruised for this i recomend JUI APPLY ALITTLE BIT IN THE PALM OF YOU HAND THEN RUB IN THE BRUSIED AREA UNTIL IT DRIES UP

If you wet your hands down and rub alum on them before training, the alum tightens the skin so you won't blister or bleed quite as easily, but it is still going to happen. You can do the same thing by using Prereation-H too. But as far as toughening your skin...you're just going to have to pay your dues.

Keep it up and keep punchin'!

so youre a wrestler w/not much striking experience right? through training your hands will become accustomed to contact...in time you will notice adifference...no quick fixes here

I have an item that I hand make out of bamboo and nylon. They are patenet pending and called Makawari Conditioning Sticks. I sell them on ebay but if any post members would like me to send them some info and pics just PM me. I will offer discounts for forum members. I have used these for years in addition to my normal conditioning, banana bags, Makawari Boards, and the traditional Thai Tires. Any questions let me know...
